Abstract

The study intended to identify how long-term financing influences development of Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs). It focused on MPK Graphics as a case study. The purpose of the study was to establish the impact of long-term financing on development of SMEs in Uganda. The research design was descriptive and the study used both quantitative and qualitative research approach. Stratified and purposive samplings were used to select respondents. The data collected was analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. Descriptive analysis was used to draw the picture of the respondents, Pearson correlation was used to test the relationship between the study variables, while regression analysis was used to test the effect between the variables of the study. Therefore, factor analysis was employed to determine long-term financing dimensions in small and medium enterprises in Uganda. The major findings of the study were that there was a positive relationship between Long term financing and Development of SMEs in Uganda (r = 0.751, P-value < 0.01); a positive relationship between financial performance and Development of SMEs in Uganda (r = 0.436, P-value < 0.01) and showed (R= 0.810) in a combination of Long term financing, financial performance in assessing the level to which they can predict the level of Development of SMEs in Uganda. These variables explained 59.7 per cent of the variance of Development of SMEs (R Square =.597). The most influential predictor of Development of SMEs was Long term financing (β = .622, Sig. 294). Long-term finance frequently defined as all funding for a time frame exceeding one year may contribute to faster growth, greater welfare, shared prosperity, and enduring stability in two important ways: by reducing rollover risks for borrowers, thereby lengthening the horizon of investments and improving performance.

Abstract

Landslide is a global geological hazard because of its high frequency and wide loss distribution. Two major landslides situated in Azad Kashmir along Neelum valley road were selected for this study. The region has active faults, experienced earthquakes, heavy rain, and snowfall. Consequently, landslides have caused many deaths in the past decades and have frequently damaged roads, infrastructures, agricultural lands, and dense forest cover. The present study deals with geotechnical studies of soil and rock for pre-stability analyses of the Noseri and Sandhok landslides with a special focus to find out the reasons for slope failure. Finally, remedial measures for landslide stability are put forward. The study includes field investigations, comprising site geomorphology and characteristics of each site, and laboratory tests involving physical and engineering properties of soil. The results show that rainfall has no obvious effect on the landslides, whereas varying temperature has a little impact on their failure. It is concluded that the instability of Noseri landslide may be related to seismic activities, and slope failure occurs along the active fault zones as it lies along the hanging wall of the thrust fault (MBT). While, Sandhok landslide may be caused by fractures and cracks occurred under tectonic stresse.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the impact of different variables like MKTS, GDP, TO and INFR in attracting FDI in Bangladesh. Using various statistical test like Augmented Dickey- Fuller (ADF) Unit Root Test, Phillips- Perron (PP) Unit Root Test, Granger Casuality Test & Ordinary Least Square Method (OLS Method), this research has found that some variables has positive influence in attracting FDI in Bangladesh where some variables has negative relation with FDI. Data has been analyzed by EViews in OSL regression method and it is found that OLS regression is 0.924341 that indicates 92% representing the variation in independent variables can explain 92% variation in attracting inward FDI. P value for MKTS and GDP is less that 5% that means MKTS and GDP has an impact on FDI and they are statistically significant. OLS regression analysis for another two variables- TO and INFR is not statistically significant as the P value is greater than 5% but they have negative relationship with FDI.   This study is actually to make up a decision whether the variables can accelerate the trend of attracting FDI in respect of Bangladesh. Furthermore, this research will show the way to government how to deal with the investors. Therefore , this study is needed to sort the present economic situation of Bangladesh & figure out the most probable reasons & technique to attract more FDI in the country with future research in this field.

Abstract

We examine the effect of part-time employment on students’ academic performance using primary data collected from randomly selected 108 students of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur. We estimate the impact of both work participation and work intensity of student involved in part time job on academic performance using ordinary least square (OSL) method. The regression results show that there is a significant negative relationship between work participation and academic performance of the students. Further, it was observed that the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) declines with increment hours in part time employment.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is fundamental to nursing practice and it influences professional relationships, impact patient care decisions and affect healthcare workers at an intrapersonal level. Across academic disciplines, there is strong acknowledgement that understanding the effect of emotional intelligence is essential. Hence, this study intends to quantitatively investigate the effect of emotional intelligence on the job performance of nurses in Jordanian nursing hospitals. Pertaining to this, a self-administered questionnaire was used and a total of 384 nurses in Jordanian hospital were randomly selected as respondents, in which their perceptions were gathered. The hypothesis was tested by using SEM-AMOS package 22.0 and the findings have shown a direct effect of emotional intelligence on Job Performance of Nurses in Jordanian Hospitals, which is positive and significant (β=0.222, P=.001). The novelty of the research goes back to studying the concept in a developing country, i.e. Jordan. The implications of the above findings are then discussed.

Managerial economics as a field of study has become popular in recent times as a result of the increasing variability of business environments. Business organizations’ demand for tools that will aid them in making informed decisions in an environment characterized by change and competition has become increasingly prevalent. This study theoretically examines the relationship between managerial economics and business strategies formulation and identified eight different strategy methods that form the basis for smart decision-making processes for managers who aim to increase their profitability, market share and competitiveness. In establishing the link between these two concepts – both which are essential for a company to grow, thrive and compete in an environment of uncertainties in the business world, the study identified the critical elements managers need for achieving its goals and optimizing its financial success. Practically, this study would expose top managers on how to strategically plan organizational programs no matter how small because no organizational program is insignificant.

Abstract

In this study, we want to see the effect of chemical activation on coconut shell charcoal to absorb laundry waste. Chemical activation uses HCL and H2SO4 with concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% for each activator. The research was conducted by activating coconut shell charcoal in chemistry and physics. Chemical activation is done by soaking the charcoal into HCl and H2SO4 solutions for 24 hours after which physical activation is carried out by oven-burning charcoal at a temperature of 200 oC for 60 minutes. Activated coconut shell charcoal mixed with laundry waste and then stirred using a magnetic stirrer for 60 minutes for the absorption process. After that the laundry waste from the absorption results tested by pH, TDS, Viscosity, clarity and detergent content. The results showed that for all absorption, the best clarity was obtained at a concentration of 20% in HCl and H2SO4 solutions of (37 and 57) Lux. The best impurity particle absorption was indicated by a concentration of 15% with pH values of HCl (7.4) and H2SO4 (6.7), viscosity of HCl (110.93) N / m3 and H2SO4 (116.53) N / m³. While the maximum TDS value is indicated by the concentrations of HCl 10% (321) ppm and H2SO4 in concentration of 15% (309) ppm. While the results for the best detergent content are shown by 15% HCl concentration which is 0.4248 mg / L.

Abstract

The study was conducted in Gode District in Somali regional state in Ethiopia to describe phenotypic characterization of the breed on its natural production environment. The interview was addressed to 126 households who keep cattle for multi-purposes.  Data on qualitative and quantitative traits collected from 612 cattle for five-month. The majority of body conformation of the breed indicated that the females were dairy type while males were beef type. The major coat color was white for female but white-black shade for male population. Female population has small erect hump largely positioned cervico-thoracic whilst males have medium to large erect hump positioned thoracic. The mean height at wither, heart girth, flank girth and the body length for female were 112.66 cm, 161.20 cm, 162.10 cm and 121.28 cm, respectively while as for male were 123.18 cm, 170.91 cm, 169.20 cm and 125.16 cm, respectively. The mean daily milk yield in the study area was 2.72 kg. The mean age at calving was 53.39 months having good mothering feature. The mean age at which the males were allowed to mate was 54.87 months. Based on the findings, it was concluded that distinct phenotypic characteristics can be observed among individuals of different sex within the breed on its natural production environment. Also, the breed has distinct phenotypic characteristics with a better on-farm performance compared to some other east African zebu type.
