This paper evaluated the 2017 Presidential order and the challenges of the Nigeria Maritime Sector as it hampered the smooth, efficient and effective running of the activities within the maritime sector. These challenges ranges from operational delays, marine theft or robbery, hijacking or kidnapping, piracy, militancy, illegal maritime operations and the likes. The implications are enormous as they have over the years significantly impacted negatively on critical sector of the economy ranging from transportation, production, oil and gas sectors and more importantly, threatened the growth and advancement of the regional maritime trade. This paper adopted several literatures and from their assessment and analysis, it was found that, significant relationship existed between the presidential order and the ease of doing business within the maritime sector. The study also found that there is a significant relationship between the presidential order and infrastructural development of the maritime sub-systems. It was also recommended that going forward, government’s approach to maritime policies and issues should be devoid of any form of ad-hoc, fire brigade or kill-and –go methods that have never helped us in this part of the globe. Hence, stakeholders’ engagement is dimmed necessary for an effective, efficient and sustainable maritime security and safety to prompt maritime operational activities.

Abstract

The study provides a deep insight on the relationship between social cohesion and economic growth on the basis of existing literature. The study has categorized the different dimensions of social cohesion on the base of prevailing studies and elaborated their impact on economic growth in an articulated way. We have found after review of literature that, though social cohesion is defined in different dimension and various studies have used diverse indicators to measure the level of social cohesion but there is absence of any comprehensive measure of social cohesion to better understanding the impact of social cohesion on economic growth. So there is need to do more research to analyze the impact of social cohesion on economic growth through a more comprehensive measure which contains all the indicators describe in different definition of social cohesion. The research is helpful for governments to device policy measures to promote social cohesion in the society.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to assess the various factors affecting the management systems in Nigeria and how to mitigate the negative effects. It reconnoiters the origin and development of contemporary management in the country and the challenges today managers face in a multi-cultural and multi-lingua society. Nigeria is assailed by factors of disunity and snaillike development which alter the essentials of management theories. Leveraging Geert Hofstede’s six cultural models and its empirical studies on Nigeria’s cultural conditioning and its practical insinuations. Geert Hofstede’s models provide a framework for understanding the impact of cultural differences of management of different countries, the comprehensive studies evaluate how corporate management is influenced by culture. This paper builds on academic contributions on comparative management, comparing the western management culture of United States of America and United Kingdom systems to that of Nigeria.  It reveals the extent to which culture limits the effectiveness of practical managerial concepts in corporate Nigeria.

Abstract

Rock burst is a dynamic-static geological disaster affect deep underground mines and mining activities around the world .Deep rock-structures(tunnels), coal mines, deep metallic and non-metallic mines are affecting due to this sudden disaster. It is a catastrophic phenomenon in underground engineering and deep mining problem; had become a scientific problem which has to be tackled so; is important to investigate causes and aided factors favorable for rock burst. This paper is a result of comprehensive study on rock burst phenomenon in different countries have different geological conditions and at variable depths. This study covers rock burst concepts, theories, mechanism, causes, factors, types, favorable conditions, rock burst damage and impacts, regarding rock burst. This review would be helpful to study and understand the concepts and achievements in the field of rock burst by researchers.

Key words: rock burst, dynamic-static stresses, damages & impact, scientific problem.
