Abstract

Remittance plays a very important role in the national economy. Remittance inflow in Bangladesh is one of the prime sources of foreign currency reserve. A certain amount of foreign currency reserve is indeed a vital need for the country because of its high degree of dependency on import. Inflow of remittance depends on the amount of manpower migration. Remittance earnings have increased more than five times during the past decade and it is currently the single largest foreign exchange earner for Bangladesh. Inward remittances to Bangladesh during the first six months of FY2011-12 stood at about USD 6.1 billion which is 9.3 per cent higher than the comparable period of the previous fiscal and Reaching an all-time high of 1491.36 USD Million in july of 2014 and a record low of 856.87 USD Million in September of 2017.  The main purpose of this study is to forecast the next ten years Remittance in Bangladesh. Here, we applied different methods of time series and analyze the yearly Remittance data in Bangladesh over the period 1996-1997 to 2016-2017.  We applied Box-Jenkin’s methodology to identify the actual model based on different model selection criterion. On the study at first we have checked the stationarity. For checking stationarity we have used both graphical method and Dickey Fuller test. Then to find the appropriate model for Remittance we have used the ACF, PACF curves. In this research, we found that ARIMA (1, 1, 0) model is suitable for the forecasting the Remittance in Bangladesh. Comparing between the original series and forecasted series, we found that the Remittance flow is in Bangladesh is projected to increasing.

Abstract

The Study was conducted at Muktagacha upazila of Mymensingh district in Bangladesh for a period of 9 months (From February to October, 2018) with 12 indigenous lactating cows to evaluate the performance of UMB technology by the farmers of Muktagacha upazila at Mymensingh district. Twelve indigenous cows were taken under this study from the village of Rajpur and Garaikuti of Muktagacha upazila under Mymensingh district. The cows were divided randomly into two groups having 5 animals in each group. One is control and another is UMB group. Six lactating cows of control group supplied with basal feeds without supplemented and six lactating cows of supplemented group supplied with basal feeds with the basal feeds plus 500g/d/cow UMB. Dry matter intake was measured 30 days interval and postpartum heat period were also recorded regularly, dry matter intake was significantly (p<0.01) higher than that of control group, live weight changes was measured at 90 days interval. The study findings net weight gain of control and supplemented groups were 1.33±0.80 and 7.00±0.26.Average daily milk yields during the experimental period were 1.84±0.05 in control and 2.45+-0.05 in supplemented group. Body Condition Score and daily milk yield were measured at 7 days interval. The average body condition score of control and supplemented groups were 2.39±0.08, 2.59±0.12; respectively. Calving to first estrus, calving to first service, Service per conception, calving to conception and calving to subsequent calving interval of control and supplemented groups were 138.33±5; 86.67±3; 138.33±5, 87.67±3;1.83±0.31, 1.33±0.21; 155.83±4; 93.67±4 and 435.83±4; 367.17±6 respectively. It can be concluded that UMB may be used for improving milk production and fertility of local cows under the village condition of Bangladesh.

Vergílio Ferreira and Malraux: Literature, Existentialism and Cinema Luis Cardoso

Vergílio Ferreira and Malraux: Literature, Existentialism and Cinema

Author (s)

Luis Cardoso

Abstract

Vergílio Ferreira, after a short approach to Neo-Realism, began to be interested in a french writer’s ideas who were a turning point to the portuguese writer. Malraux, a huge reference in Existentialism, had conceived the problem-novel, a text centred in a deep focus concerning Man, Life and the understanding of the Human Condition. With this dialogue between Vergílio Ferreira and Malraux, Existentialism enters Portugal and begins a major theoretical dispute between Neo-Realism and Existentialism. Vergílio Ferreira abandons the neo-realism guidelines and embraces Malraux’s problem-novel.

Vergílio Ferreira’s novels and the influence of cinema Luis Cardoso

Vergílio Ferreira’s novels and the influence of cinema

Author (s)

Luis Cardoso

Abstract

Vergilio Ferreira, one of the most important writers of the last century in Portugal, reveals a very interesting relationship with Cinema. In his novels, we may ask if his connection with the Neo-Realism movement or with the Existencialists really influenced the writing techniques. In fact, Neo-Realism was a movement that influenced the writer’s production above all because it had an epocal (historical, aesthetic, literary, and ideological) justification. Could the writer have found in the cinema structural marks with which he impregnated not only his narrative technique but also his ideological vectors? We can clearly state that the author has an interesting dialogue with cinema techniques and often they reveal themselves in his writings.

Portuguese language and literature in Rennaissance: the influence of Erasmus Luis Cardoso

Portuguese language and literature in Rennaissance: the influence of Erasmus

Author (s)

Abstract

Rennaissance in Portugal is characterized by a very close connection with European humanists and the new ideas about religion and daily practices. In this debate, Portuguese humanists reflected upon the thoughts of major authors like Erasmus. So, language and literature became not only a return to the classics, but also a domain for discussion regarding Christianity and the approaches that came from abroad. However, Portugal received these ideas until the Inquisition arrived. After that, humanists became more carefull and avoided the ideas of Erasmus. The case of the Portuguese humanist Pedro Sanches shows us all this: the classic influence, the sympathy for Erasmus and the slow departure to other themes, less dangerous and more focused on language and literature.

Key words: Portuguese Rennaissance, Language and Literature, Humanism, Erasmus, Pedro Sanches.

Portuguese language and literature in Rennaissance: the life and work of the humanist Pedro Sanches Luis Cardoso

Portuguese language and literature in Rennaissance: the life and work of the humanist Pedro Sanches

Abstract

The Portuguese Rennaissance is truly connected with the ancient classics in language and literature. Many humanists in Portugal began a large movement that wanted to understand the ancient Greek and Latin writers and to bring to the Rennaissance their toughts and words. Portugal opened the doors to European humanists and the new ideas entered the Portuguese culture. One of the humanists that came to Portugal was Pedro Sanches, who worked in the royal palace and is an example of a true humanist in his life and work. His texts and deeds reveal a profound knowledge of the ancient classics, enlighted by the Rennaissance way of thinking, leaving behind the Middle Ages and building a new man for a new world.

Abstract

The massification of the phenomenon of refugees around the world, with 68.5 million people in this condition, being 16.2 million in 2017, demonstrates that the persecution for reasons of race, social group, gender, armed conflicts and the deterioration of human rights that this freedom, equality, dignity, protection of the family and others, are being deprived of a large portion of the world population which, in addition to these factors there are health issues such as depression, post-traumatic disorders, psychotic outbreaks and others. In Brazil, it is observed the same phenomenon. The objective of this work was to present the information requests and recognition of requests for refuge in Brazil during the years 2017 and 2018. The method adopted was the bibliographic research and exploratory. The results indicate an increase of 58% of requests in 2018, on account of the problems faced by Venezuela, which saw its economy wither away with the reduction in the price of oil in the years 2008 to 2015, along with this the political problems and the rentier capital. The affected regions in Brazil are the states of Roraima and Amazonas, on account of the motto with this country, but it is quite challenging the inclusion of this population in such a way that have their rights recognized, because of the 80 thousand applications in 2018, being 77% from Venezuela, only 1% was accepted. This work serves as support for public policies that must seek alternatives to comply with the legislation in such a way that guarantees the fundamental rights to this population, allowing the freedom, equality, dignity, housing, education and right to life.  The need for guarantee of human rights, makes this study can be used by organizations so that they can integrate these people culturally and professionally.
