Abstract

Many African countries are still being faced with basic welfare issues such as hunger and extreme poverty, sparking debates among researchers and policy makers on whether the continent can endogenously leverage its agricultural potentials to address these challenges. To contribute to these debates, this study employs a panel data spanning 26 year (1990-2015) and including 13 ECOWAS countries to analyze the impact of production factors on agricultural productivity and examine the question of whether and how agriculture can serve as a tool for growth and poverty alleviation in the region. By linearizing the Cobb-Douglas production function and using fixed effects (FE) with country dummies, we find positive and significant relationship between lands cultivated, physical and financial capitals, as opposed to labor employed on agricultural productivity. Next, by using 2SLS/IV and GMM/IV methods, we show that agricultural productivity can be a pro-growth and counter-poverty tool. Furthermore we find that non-agricultural productivity interacts significantly with agricultural productivity and that agricultural productivity gap (APG) decreases both growth and poverty index. Following these results, we chart the transmission mechanisms for policy makers that will allow them to understand the linkages and pathways through which agricultural productivity affects the entire economy.

Key words: Agricultural productivity, agricultural productivity gap (APG), production factors, economic growth, poverty reduction, ECOWAS, SSA, Africa.

Furthermore, result shows using foreign exchange derivatives significantly add value of the firms as higher Tobin’s Q ratio. This finding indicates that especially companies with high firm value can further expand their values through actively participating in hedging activities. Results also indicate that foreign exchange derivatives are more likely to raise large corporation’s value. Another finding is that effect of value-enhancing on degree of derivative use of foreign exchange is weaker for profitable firms than for less profitable ones. This means that increasing derivative holdings by more profitable non-financial firms are unlikely to contribute to their performance.

Along these lines, it isn’t too amazing that the challenge among different internet browsers has been anxious in the course of the most recent ten years. Web innovation is one the very pinnacle of developments of our time and has contributed essentially in dispersing and gathering information and data. Viability and proficiency of the procedure relies upon the presentation of the internet browser. Google Chrome is the pioneer of the serious program showcase with Mozilla Firefox as its most grounded rival, and obviously Internet Explorer which has been and is increasing a significant degree of ubiquity among web clients. Picking the superlative internet browser is a troublesome errand because of the extensively huge determination of program projects and absence of substantial examination information. This paper depicts and looks at imperative highlights of Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, which speak to over 15% of the all programs advertise. The presentation of every program is assessed dependent on the general highlights, working framework support, program highlights, convention backing and language support. The paper is finished up with solid comments dependent on the examination.

Abstract

The gender pay gap is about gender representation in roles that pay differently, and is about gender portrayal in jobs that pay in an unexpected way, and is not quite the same as equivalent compensation concerns. The gender pay gap is determined by taking the normal compensation for all females in an association, paying little mind to job or duties, and contrasting that with the normal pay for all guys in a similar association, paying little heed to job or obligations. The distinction in these two normal sums is the ” gender pay gap.” Paying ladies not as much as men for a similar activity, absolutely by virtue of their gender, is unlawful and is banned by correspondence enactment. It alludes to the gap between what is earned on normal by ladies and men dependent on normal gross hourly income of every single paid representative – not simply people doing likewise work, or with a similar encounter or working example. It doesn’t demonstrate or distinguish separation or inclination or even a nonattendance of equivalent compensation for equivalent worth work. The next section reviews the theoretical and empirical literature analyzing gender wage differences. Section III describes the trends in gender wage gaps across countries and regions in this date. The fourth section presents how to close gender pay gap. The final section concludes with some thoughts on policy implications.

Key words: Gender Wage Gap, Equal Pay, Value of Work, Gender Pay Gap, Legislations, Government Authorities.

Abstract

This project discusses and Implements in detail the purpose, designing and functioning of a automatic vehicle tracking and traffic accident monitoring system in public transport. The number of vehicles on the road globally is expected to increase rapidly. Therefore, the development of vehicle tracking system using the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) modem is undertaken with the aim of enabling to minimize traffic accident and users to locate their vehicles and to keep the users from driving over speed with ease and in a convenient manner. The system will provide to the administrator with the capability to track vehicle remotely through the mobile network and at what speed the vehicle is running. Specifically, implementation of this project more focus on the server based vehicle tracking in public transport and company vehicles in case of traffic accident prevention. The system will generate the location of the vehicle and at what speed the vehicle is moving. The system will utilize GPS to obtain a vehicle’s coordinate and the time and transmit it using GSM modem to the central server through the mobile network by SMS. The main hardware components of the system are Robomart GPS receiver module, Robomart GSM module and AVR Atmega16 microcontroller. The developed vehicle tracking system demonstrates the feasibility of near real-time tracking of vehicles and improved customizability, global operability and costly when compared to existing solutions.
