Abstract

This study examines the impact of leader emotional intelligence, transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and work motivation on job performance, with trust in supervisor as a mediating variable. Conducted at Cornellia & Co PR and Marketing Consultant in Yogyakarta, the research employed a quantitative approach with 47 employees as respondents. Data was collected via an online questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. The findings reveal that leader emotional intelligence, transformational leadership, and transactional leadership do not significantly influence job performance, while work motivation has a strong positive effect. Leader emotional intelligence positively affects trust in supervisor, whereas transformational leadership does not. Transactional leadership and work motivation both enhance trust in supervisor. However, trust in supervisor does not significantly impact job performance, contradicting previous research. The model demonstrates strong explanatory power for both trust in supervisor (R² = 0.770) and job performance (R² = 0.665), indicating its reliability in predicting these variables. Based on the results, companies should prioritize leadership training programs to enhance emotional intelligence, adopt performance-based reward systems, and refine leadership evaluation methods to improve employee motivation and trust. Future research should expand the sample size and incorporate qualitative methods to provide deeper insights into the relationships between leadership, motivation, and performance.
