Abstract

The objective of the study was to characterize natural production environment of Ogaden cattle breed. Questionnaire used for the study was designed using the general information developed by FAO (2012). 3 districts and 6 kebeles were purposely and 126 cattle keepers were randomly selected for data collection. The studied variables were farming, cattle breeding practice, purpose of keeping, selection criteria, feeding, health care and veterinary service, income and non-income function, and cattle production constraints. SAS version 9.2, 2008 software was used for data analysis. 30.16% were pastoral while 69.84% were agro-pastoral. Significant difference seen between districts in crop land holding, but no significant difference between districts in forage land holding. Cattle keepers prefer to keep local Ogaden cattle breed and were practicing pure breeding. Majority of them do not produce adequate pasture.  They treat diseased animals by traditional method (57.94%). Male cattle were kept for socio-cultural purpose whilst female cattle were kept for milk production. None of the agro-pastoral respondents have recalled that they use draught power and manure of cattle. Cow milk in the study area has taken the first line consumed by the livestock owners and generating daily income for their family need among other livestock products making cattle the most important livestock species. Prolonged feed shortage was the first cattle production constraint.  The cattle keeping society in the studied area appeared to have distinct culture and tradition of keeping and utilization cattle.

Abstract

In this study, we want to see the effect of chemical activation on coconut shell charcoal to absorb laundry waste. Chemical activation uses HCL and H2SO4 with concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% for each activator. The research was conducted by activating coconut shell charcoal in chemistry and physics. Chemical activation is done by soaking the charcoal into HCl and H2SO4 solutions for 24 hours after which physical activation is carried out by oven-burning charcoal at a temperature of 200 oC for 60 minutes. Activated coconut shell charcoal mixed with laundry waste and then stirred using a magnetic stirrer for 60 minutes for the absorption process. After that the laundry waste from the absorption results tested by pH, TDS, Viscosity, clarity and detergent content. The results showed that for all absorption, the best clarity was obtained at a concentration of 20% in HCl and H2SO4 solutions of (37 and 57) Lux. The best impurity particle absorption was indicated by a concentration of 15% with pH values of HCl (7.4) and H2SO4 (6.7), viscosity of HCl (110.93) N / m3 and H2SO4 (116.53) N / m³. While the maximum TDS value is indicated by the concentrations of HCl 10% (321) ppm and H2SO4 in concentration of 15% (309) ppm. While the results for the best detergent content are shown by 15% HCl concentration which is 0.4248 mg / L.

Abstract

This counseling aims to find out: (1) For students to know the importance of personal financial management awareness. (2). In order for students to implement and implement the importance of awareness of personal financial management for the Padang Lawas Student Family Association in Yogyakarta. Design carried out with an extension model. The location of this research was in Mie Balap Medan Kiosk Yogyakarta, Culinary Park, No. 07, Jalan Karangmalang, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The number of counseling participants was 21 people (total sampling). This counseling was conducted on Sunday, December 3, 2017. The data of this study were captured using a questionnaire to capture the Importance of Personal Financial Management Awareness. The data analysis technique is descriptive quantitative percentage analysis. Based on data obtained from counseling by distributing questionnaires as many as 30 items. It is known from the indicators of the use of funds with a percentage of 56.91%. Indicators of Determining Fund Sources with a percentage of 83.66%. Risk Management Indicator with a percentage of 31.51%. Future Planning Indicators with a percentage of 33.10%. Based on the data obtained from the results of counseling, the Importance of Personal Financial Management Awareness is still in the Enough category with a percentage of 51.29%. Thus, after this counseling was conducted and reviewed again within one month that there was a significant and increasing relationship with a percentage of 80.95%, after attending counseling with the theme The Importance of Personal Financial Management Awareness of the Padang Lawas Student Family Association in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The study investigated the role of organizational culture in moderating the relationship between planned change and organizational effectiveness. We measured organizational effectiveness using resilience and corporate growth. The study adopted the cross sectional method which is a form of the quasi experiment research design. A population of 1651 was drawn from 33 selected indigenous maritime companies operating in Nigeria. The Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table was used to arrive at a sample size of 327. The questionnaire was used as the main instrument for collection of data and it was designed using the 5 point Likert scale. Pearson moment correlation was used to test the hypotheses while step wise regression model was used to test the moderating effect of organizational culture on the relationship between planned change and organizational effectiveness. Our findings revealed a significant and positive relationship between planned change and organizational effectiveness, measured by resilience and corporate growth. The study however revealed a negative relationship between organizational culture in moderating the relationship between planned change and organizational effectiveness. We concluded that when changes are well planned and communicated to members of the organization, and the importance of the change made visible, resistance to change is completely eliminated or reduced to the barest minimum. We recommended Maritime organizations need to conduct a cultural audit with a view to cultivating those values and cultural dimensions that engender and reward change readiness and goal achievement, We strongly recommend that organizations build a system that integrates change, considering how important these changes could be to the achievement of organizational goals. Where change is recurrent, adjustment to environmental changes will be inevitable for organizations to achieve their goals.
